Hello future MC Scots! I have a couple of questions for you...
Are you interested in going to a college that offers a rigorous and highly personal experience?
Do you want to be challenged in and out of the classroom?
Do you want to make a difference in the world?
Are Orange and Garnet your favorite colors?? (Ok, I'm just joking on this last question :) )
If you answered YES! to any of these questions then you should apply to Maryville College and you should apply now because until Monday, February 15th, it's FREE! Contact the Admissions Office or your Admissions Advisor for more information.

Scholarship Deadline Approaching
Hello fellow blog followers!
Now that the excitement of the Creative Arts Competition is winding down and we're getting closer to the scholarship deadlines I wanted to be sure to let you all know where to find the applications!
http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/admissions/finaid/forms.asp
Make sure that you know that you can apply for as many scholarships as you're eligible for! And also remember that some awards actually STACK on top of the big scholarships! This is the best time to be filling out the scholarship applications if you haven't already.
Also...don't forget that your enrollment deposit is refundable by May 1st so if you haven't already submitted that...now would be a good time for that as well.
While you're thinking about all the financial aid stuff for all colleges also be sure to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid) in order to be eligible for need-based money. The sooner you fill it out the better!
On an unfortunate note...the Meet Maryville scheduled for January 30th has been canceled because of the inclement weather that they are predicting. We have not decided whether or not we are going to reschedule the Meet Maryville but students are encouraged to still come visit campus! There are several Saturday Visits that are coming up as well and it will give students a very similar experience. The next Saturday Visit that is coming up is the one on February 13th.
There are a lot of exciting things happening around Maryville right now. Be sure to contact your admissions advisor with any questions that you may have. Remember...there is no application deadline for admission! Even if you haven't started the application...there is still time to submit one and get accepted.
We always look forward to receiving your applications!!

Hello all!
We have lots of things going on at MC within the next few weeks and I hope you will be a part of them!
This Saturday, January 23, we are hosting our Creative Arts Competition! Some of our best, brightest, and most talented prospective music and theatre major students will be auditioning (in the BRAND NEW Clayton Centor for the Arts, I might add!) for a full-tuition scholarship!
Next Saturday, January 30, we will have 2 more events for prospective students. The first is Meet Maryville, our open house. Registration will start at 8:30AM and the program will begin at 9:00AM. Parents and students alike are welcome! Please contact your Admissions Advisor if you are interested in attending. We love any opportunity to meet new students or "put faces" with names and personalities we already know well!
Also next Saturday, January 30, is Minority Recruitment Weekend. The events will begin after Meet Maryville at 3:00PM in Bartlett Hall. Parents and prospective students are welcome to attend this event as well! The schedule is jam-packed with activities! So, please contact your Admissions Advisor if you are interested!
As if the next couple of weekends are not going to be fun enough, all Maryville College scholarship and award applications will be due by Monday, February 1! All of our scholarships and awards for the 2010-2011 school year are listed on the website just waiting for you to download!
Whew! I'm exhausted just writing about all of the exciting things that are coming up! Anyway, I hope your semester is going well and I hope to see you on campus sometime soon!
Sincerely,

Happy Holidays from Maryville College!

Hello and Happy Holidays from Maryville College!
I hope those of you who still have finals to take are doing well and getting as much rest as you can in between your studies. You've almost made it! As for those of you who are already out of school for the winter, I hope you are having lots of fun!
It is a very quiet week here at Maryville College. All of our students have finished their finals and went home last week. So, now we are going through lots of applications and we hope to see yours soon, if you haven't already sent it in! If you are planning to work on your application over the holidays please don't forget to request that your transcripts go out! Because we can't send you the ever-exciting acceptance letter if we don't have your transcript, ACT/SAT scores, and your application! We need all three to effectively evaluate your file! Besides, who doesn't LOVE getting a personalized phone call from your admissions advisor congratulating you on being accepted to Maryville College?!
Anyway, we wish each you a wonderful holiday season with lots of quality time with family and friends! And just in case you were wondering what we like to do in the office when we aren't traveling or evaluating transcripts, wonder no more: http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/Qph0QvCX0xeB90X4yxXR

Fine Arts Showcase Weekend
I just got back from my South Carolina trip right before the big Fine Arts Showcase weekend! I was really excited to be a part of our first big fine arts weekend. Here's a little bit of what happened!
Friday Night--
We had some of our current students put on a performance for prospective students and their families. It was wonderful! Patrick Finney, a junior Music Theory and Composition student, played a guitar piece that was similar to the stylistic playings that are demonstrated in the movie "August Rush". Will Yager, also a junior Music Major, played a classical upright bass piece with our accompanist Jennifer Olander and a jazz composition with our Jazz Pianist Bill Swann. Sharon Lankford, a senior Vocal Performance major, put on a stunning performance of an aria. Our Maryville College Jazz Band closed out the evening with their rendition of "Sly" and "You're My Everything". All in all I think it was a very entertaining night and I think prospective students got a good taste of the talent that Maryville College has!
Saturday Day--
We had a really successful Meet Maryville! Tons of students and their parents came. It was a beautiful day, no rain at all! The students got to go on our AlternaTour, pick from educational sessions to sit in on, and eat lunch on campus! This Meet Maryville was special because after it was over, students and parents were allowed a tour of our new Clayton Center for the Arts. Let me just say..it is breathtaking!
Saturday Night--
The Invitational Choir Festival was scheduled for after the Meet Maryville. Maryville College has hosted the Invitational Choir Festival for local high schools for over five years! I think it is a great opportunity for area high schools to come together and perform for each other. This year William Blount High School, Farragut High School, Lenoir City High School, Aloca High School, and Powell High School were all participants. The talent that these schools portrayed was phenomenal! I was so excited to see all the choir directors and their students. After the high schools, the Maryville College Concert Choir performed three pieces and finally Off Kilter brought down the house with "My Girl", "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da", and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".
If you weren't able to attend this week make sure to go on our webiste www.maryvillecollege.edu to find more information about upcoming performances from our ensembles, students, and faculty! The Maryville College Concert Choir is having their Fall Concert on November 20! Be sure to attend!
